Using expertise and local knowledge developed over 23 years of grant delivery, the South Yorkshire Community Foundation makes targeted grants that make the maximum impact on communities.
Our team approach to matching applications to funding pots involves our professional fund managers, experienced volunteer panelists and trained assessors – between them they ensure we achieve the best results for our communities.
In a three year period up to March 31, 2009, SYCF has delivered £5 million in grants in South Yorkshire, providing vital funding to those who need it most.
We are a trusted partner, managing statutory funds, charitable funds and business funds as well as advising individual philanthropists.

In the financial year 2007/2008, SYCF made 498 grant payments totalling almost £1.7m to community groups and projects throughout South Yorkshire, and in the year 2008/2009 a further 440 grant payments were made totalling more than £1.2m.
The pie charts (above) show how many grants were delivered from each funding stream that we administered. The statutory funding streams that we delivered during 07/08 were the Local Network Fund for Children and Young People and the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund Community Chest. The statutory funding pot for 08/09 was Grassroots Grants, made available by the Office of the Third Sector.
The overall grants total above does not include the Flood Relief Fund grants that were delivered to individuals, which accounted for a further £905,810 in 07/08 and £348,887 in 08/09.
Since 1986, the South Yorkshire Community Foundation has distributed thousands of grants to small community groups and organisations, and will soon surpass the £20 million milestone (see chart above).
The extent of our local knowledge means that we can deliver funding to vital local groups that are tackling the issues that matter most in our local communities.
