SYCF hand out bursaries to help Third Sector combat the recession
10th November 2009
THIRD SECTOR organisations looking to become more resilient to combat the current economic climate have received a welcome boost from the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
Through phase one of the Modernisation Fund, bursaries of £1,000 have been awarded to 50 organisations to pay for initial advice on how they could become more resilient and work more closely with others to increase their impact.
The figure for bursaries awarded in South Yorkshire is the highest in the UK outside London and is a great achievement for the region.
Some of those organisations have also been successful in receiving £10,000 grants from phase two of the fund (being delivered by Capacity Builders), to help pay costs involved in moving towards collaboration or merger.
To be eligible for grants from phase two of the programme, organisations had to have been successful in applying for a phase one bursary from the SYCF.
