Healthy Rotherham - fast track process
Please note that this funding is no longer available. Visit the Apply for a Grant section for further details on grants currently available from SYCF.
UNSUNG heroes working to help local communities are set for a cash boost thanks to a new partnership between NHS Rotherham and the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
Through the Healthy Rotherham grant campaign voluntary led groups and projects that do fantastic work to help people in the area will be able to do more with a cash grant of between £250 and £700.
The funding has been made available through SYCF's Grassroots Grants programme that offers grants to community groups throughout Rotherham, and a bumper pot has been made available for the Healthy Rotherham grant campaign.
Voluntary or community organisations that operate for the benefit of residents in Rotherham and have an annual income of less than £30,000 could be eligible to get hold of a grant to boost their activities.
The purpose of the Healthy Rotherham grant campaign is to support small, largely volunteer led groups that are working to tackle health issues throughout the area.
The type of group or organisation that are eligible will:
- Be a not-for-profit, voluntary or community group.
- Have an income of less than £30,000 per annum.
- Be volunteer led (i.e. with mainly volunteer based input).
- Have a governing document – ie constitution or set of rules.
- Operate for the benefit of their local communities in Rotherham.
The funding can be entirely for capital purchases (e.g. computers, photocopiers, digital projectors, etc), or for operational costs (e.g. rent, stationery, telephone costs, activities, etc) or a mixture of both.
How much can you apply for?
Grants of between £250 and £700 are available for this grant campaign in partnership with the NHS Rotherham.
If successful, grants must be spent by the 31st of December 2010
Who and what cannot be funded?
- Statutory organisations such as local authorities, schools and the Police.
- Regional or local offices of a national organisation.
- Activities that promote political or religious beliefs. Groups that are based in a religious building can apply, providing the activity / project is open to all people in the community.
- Retrospective funding – this includes activities that have already taken place or repayment of money that you have already spent.
- Individuals.
- Organisations that operate for the sole benefit or relief of animals or plants. Grassroots Grants are for the direct benefit of communities of people only. This does not preclude city farms or other groups and organisations that work with animals and/or the environment to benefit people from applying.
PLEASE NOTE: if your group has already been awarded a small grant through a community cash giveaway you will not be able to apply again through this fast track form, but should instead use the Full application process.

If your application is successful:
- Your grant will have to be spent strictly within the timescales indicated
