Leave a Legacy
You can leave a legacy in your will to ensure your charitable interests are met in the future through SYCF.
We can set up a bespoke fund on your behalf that will have a lasting impact on the area you care about.
Different kinds of legacy
There are several different types of legacy and your solicitor can help you to choose one according to your own personal circumstances:
A Pecuniary Legacy - is a fixed amount specified in your will. It is free of tax, which adds considerably to the value of your gift.
A Residuary Legacy - is the remaining value of your estate after all other bequests to family and friends have been made.
A Reversionary Legacy - allows family and friends to benefit from your estate during their lifetime and then for the balance of the estate to pass to the Community Foundation.
Specific - a particular item, such as shares, property or valuables, left to the Foundation will be free of inheritance tax.
Testimonial – The Mrs Audrey May Hampshire Lowe Fund
Communities in Old Denaby, Swinton and Mexborough could benefit from a legacy left by a local farmer who lived in the area.
Mrs Audrey May Hampshire Lowe lived in the area until she passed away in 2005, and left the value of her estate as a memorial fund to provide grants for local community groups and projects in the future.
Mrs Mary Conneely was a close personal friend of Mrs Lowe, and acted as her nurse and carer for more than 20 years up until she passed away.
Mrs Conneely said: "She was a lady with considerable dignity and remained astutely aware of all political changes and developments in her locality.
"I feel that Mrs Lowe should be remembered as a kind and caring lady who contributed unreservedly of her time to others who were less fortunate than herself."
