The fund prioritises groups which are working to increase participation from young people from lower social economic groups and people who might not usually take part in social action. Increase learning and skills in areas such as maths, English, cooking, I.T. etc. in young people. For more information on funding prioritise,
Community organisations such as The Youth Association in Barnsley and the Rotherham Federation of Businesses have already benefitted from the Youth Social Action Fund.
Funding to the Youth Association has been awarded for their six-month programme focused on working with young people on mental health awareness through urban arts, cleaning up community spaces and organising and running a community fun day. The Rotherham Federation of Businesses has been funded to set up a TARA group run and controlled by young council tenants aged 16 plus.
Both projects are benefitting the local community and the young people they are working with. They are excellent examples of the kind of activities the fund is looking to support.
