SYCF’s Masoba to attend service at St Paul’s Cathedral for NHS birthday

Our Grants Administrator, Masoba Kromah, will be in attendance for a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London as part of the 73rd birthday of the NHS, in what will be a thoughtful remembrance after a difficult year

Masoba was chosen to attend the service – titled ‘A Year Of Challenge and Hope’ – for her efforts delivering the Covid-19 Response and Recovery community grants across South Yorkshire during the height of the pandemic.

She played a vital role in the administration of the grants and ensuring that successful applicants received their funding in a timely manner.

It has been busy, but yet very rewarding, to help community groups make a difference to their communties in these difficult times.

I’m looking forward to attending the service representing the Foundation and pay tribute to the NHS.

Masoba

We are excited that Masoba will be attending the service, representing the Foundation and during a service that will talk about challenges and hope, Masoba has played her role to help others.

Ruth Willis, Chief Executive at South Yorkshire Community Foundation

The Covid-19 Response and Recovery programme in South Yorkshire programme awarded £1.5 million to over 300 charities, social enterprises and community groups to projects involving over 8,600 volunteers and directly supporting an estimated 294,000 people.

Around a third of this funding went to support the distribution of food and other essentials to those in isolation or otherwise not able to access it, 17% went to support mental health services, 16% to groups addressing problems of social isolation, and about 12% to organisations providing information and advice, particularly important for getting vital public health messages out to vulnerable communities.

I’m sure Masoba will be a great ambassador for our organisation, as well as the county. I look forward to hearing all about it on her return

Chris Booth-Mayblin, chair of South Yorkshire's Community Foundation

In light of yesterday’s announcement by the Prime Minister regarding the extension of lockdown restrictions for another four weeks, we will keep you informed as to how the service will be held.
