Chamber accolade for SYCF

South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) has been awarded a certificate to mark three decades of partnership with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.

Head of philanthropy and programmes, Michelle Dickinson, collected the prestigious accolade on behalf of SYCF at the Chamber's AGM held at Sheffield City Hall.

At the 168th AGM event, which attracted more than 150 attendees, the Chamber launched its new 2030 strategy and celebrated key city business accomplishments from the past 12 months.

Since forming in 1986, SYCF has distributed millions of pounds in grants, supporting grassroots organisations and local charities to tackle disadvantage and strengthen communities across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

Now celebrating its 40th year, SYCF continues to work in close partnership with the business community - encouraging local philanthropy, facilitating corporate giving and ensuring funding reaches those who need it most.

Michelle Dickinson said:

We are incredibly proud to receive this accolade from Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, particularly as we celebrate our 40th anniversary year. It highlights SYCF’s longstanding role in connecting business and community across South Yorkshire.

Working alongside the Chamber and its members enables us to channel generosity into grassroots groups, ensuring that investment from the business community creates real and lasting impact across South Yorkshire.

Keynote speaker at the event was Sheffield’s Niall Shamma, chief operating officer of BAFTA-winning Warp Films, who delivered valuable insights on the journey the production company has been on over the last 20 years.

Michelle added:

It was a real privilege to be in the audience at Sheffield City Hall and hear from Niall Shamma. As a Sheffield-made success story, his journey with Warp Films demonstrates exactly what can be achieved from our region when talent, ambition and opportunity come together.
