Foundation’s CEO takes on charity sleepout to tackle homelessness

The chief executive of South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) is aiming to raise £800 to support people experiencing poverty and homelessness across the region by taking part in a charity sleepout.

Martin Singer DL will join business leaders and chief executives from across South Yorkshire for CEO Sleepout Sheffield 2026 at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on Thursday 12 November.

The event will see participants spend a night sleeping outdoors at Steel City Stadium to raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness.

Martin will be joined by fellow business leaders, including SYCF patron Martin McKervey, director at AESSEAL.

Martin Singer DL said: “Homelessness continues to be a major social issue in South Yorkshire. Every three years, we carry out our Vital Signs research to identify the biggest challenges facing communities across the region, and homelessness regularly features among the top three.

“As a Community Foundation, we’re committed to supporting organisations and projects that help people facing difficult circumstances through our grant funding. We also manage and fund the online South Yorkshire Homeless Survival Guide, which brings together details of nearly 500 services offering support with accommodation, advice, food, health and wellbeing.

“By taking part in the CEO Sleepout, we hope to raise further awareness of homelessness across South Yorkshire and highlight some of the ways people can access support.

I’d encourage anyone who wants to make a difference to support the challenge with a donation. Every contribution can help fund efforts to tackle homelessness and support people facing some of the toughest challenges in our communities.
