Giving Network welcomes Barnsley representative, Brooke
Brooke Taylor has become the new Barnsley representative for South Yorkshire’s Giving Network (SYGN).
Brooke is the PR and communications manager at Barnsley College – one of the Network’s key partners.
In her role, Brooke will head up SYGN across the Barnsley borough – working to engage with businesses and organisations looking to develop their social value objectives.
Brooke said:
I'm incredibly proud to be taking on this new role with South Yorkshire’s Giving Network. At Barnsley College, we believe education goes hand-in-hand with community responsibility. Our mission is not only to support our students but also to contribute to the wider community.
Being part of SYGN is a natural extension of that commitment. It’s a great opportunity to connect with local businesses, share best practices around social value and work together on initiatives which make a genuine difference.
Brooke joins a team of regional representatives that includes:

-
Jack Kidder
Responsible business manager at Henry Boot, Sheffield representative and SYGN lead.
-
Martin McKervey
Director at AESSEAL and Rotherham representative.
-
Mark Burley
Social value and partnership manager at Hull Citywide Partnership at Keepmoat Homes, Doncaster representative.
SYGN is a concept which has been developed by South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) to bring together like-minded individuals, businesses and philanthropists to create lasting impact where it’s needed most.
Networkers contribute to two dedicated funds – a Distribution Fund for immediate grant-making and an Endowment Fund for long-term support for grassroots projects across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
SYGN supports organisations to maximise social value by embedding giving and social impact into the core business purpose. Networkers gain access to frameworks and tools to track social value and demonstrate accountability. Through SYGN, organisation stay informed about local needs and build connections with community partners.
Rachael Farrell is the philanthropy coordinator for South Yorkshire's Community Foundation and also oversees SYGN. She said:
We’re thrilled to have Brooke on board as our Barnsley representative. Her passion for community impact and strong local connections will play a vital role in supporting businesses to give back though social value projects and make a real difference across the borough.
