Meet the Funder event comes to Thorne
Voluntary and community groups in Doncaster can find out more about funding opportunities at a free drop-in event in Thorne this month.
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) will host the Meet the Funder event at Thorne Old People’s Welfare Centre, on Monday 28 September 2026, between 1pm and 3pm.
It will be a chance to chat to SYCF’s grants team about the RWE Tweenbridge Windfarm Community Benefits Fund.
The Fund supports projects for local people within three miles of the Tweenbridge Windfarm, near Thorne, with grants of between £500 and £15,000.
South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau experts will also be on hand to offer advice on grant and training opportunities.
Jess O’Neill, Grants and Partnerships Manager at South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation, said:
We’re really looking forward to meeting lots of local faces at the Meet the Funder event and would encourage voluntary and community groups operating in Thorne, Moorends, Hatfield, Hatfield Woodhouse, Fosterhouses, Stainforth, Ealand, Fishlake, Crowle and Sandtoft to pop along and find out how our RWE Tweenbridge grants could support their work.
“We’re particularly keen to receive applications from projects which support the fund’s key themes including local community, climate change and protecting the natural environment, education and training, health and wellbeing, children and young people and vulnerable or isolated older people.”
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation provides grants to community and voluntary organisations across South Yorkshire, helping local groups deliver projects that make a difference to people and communities.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, SYCF has awarded more than £40 million to support communities across Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield over the last four decades.
