South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) has announced its Community Grants programme will reopen in September 2025.
It’s part of a wider plan by SYCF to implement a new and improved grants management system to improve the experience and support on offer for local groups.
The updated system will make the application, communication and grant award process smoother, more accessible and more efficient for the voluntary and community organisations which rely on SYCF funding.
By delaying the programme’s reopening until September, the Foundation aims to ensure a seamless transition benefitting grantees now and in the future.
SYCF was recently awarded its sixth Quality Accreditation in recognition of the charity’s continued commitment to excellence, accountability and impact.
Jess O’Neill, Grants and Programmes Manager for SYCF, said:
We’re committed to providing the best possible support for local community groups and this new system is a key step forward.
While we appreciate some groups may be eager to apply sooner, we’re confident the introduction of our new software will lead to a more user-friendly and responsive process for everyone involved.
The SYCF Community Grants Programme is made up of several funds provided by generous local donors. It supports community groups and organisations across South Yorkshire, especially smaller, developing or less well-resourced organisations and grass-roots groups, where small amounts of funding can make a real difference.
Last year, SYCF awarded more than £1.3m to more than 420 community groups and organisations. Since 1986, the Community Foundation has given out almost £40m in grassroots grants.
