The Sheffield Samaritans provide essential support to people suffering from emotional distress and suicidal thoughts and actions, with the aim of preventing death by suicide. Grant funding of £1,000 enabled the organisation to provide recruitment and specialised training of volunteers, to learn about Child Sexual Exploitation and how to support callers who are affected by it.

Harthill Village Hall serves as a “community hub” and is used nearly every day by up to 30 different groups, ranging from a mother and toddler group to an over 60s club. Funding has led to the purchasing of new chairs for the hall, providing comfortable seating.

The Association of Barnsley Foster Carers formed in 1975 with the aim of improving the life chances of children in care through stimulating and educational activities. Funding was used to organise activities for the children including a Christmas party and pantomime trip.

Beginning in September 2018, the Ummeed women’s reading group has become an invaluable asset to its members. With SYCF funding, they have been able to purchase appropriate reading books and cover the cost of a tutor and room hire costs.

Harthill Tea Day Social Club run fortnightly tea days for elderly people in Harthill, Tiverton and the surrounding areas, as well as also arranging trips for their members.
