Harthill Netball Club

This women’s netball club is based in the village of Harthill in Rotherham and is open to ladies who like to play in the local area.

The club meets once a week to practice and aims to have a welcoming atmosphere, to encourage more people to get involved and get active. Since the club began four years ago, it now plays competitively and has nearly 50 regular members with around 20 players attending each week.

Funding of £790 from the Loscar Wind Farm Community Fund has helped the club to buy essential equipment such as netballs, post protectors, roller driers for the courts and bibs.

The new equipment has helped us to provide for larger numbers attending the weekly sessions, increased the range of activities possible and gave us a safer playing environment.

The roller driers are used to help get rid of water on the court which can stop us using the facilities.

In one particular event – a Mother and Daughters/Sons event that we ran on a Saturday—the roller driers saved the day.

After a very rainy morning, we would not have been able to continue without them.

The funding also allowed us to part fund a playing uniform for those who play in the league.

There is no doubt that confidence has increased with the teams now looking so smart and identifiable.

This funding allowed all players to get this at a proportion of the price and so did not exclude anyone for reasons of finance.

Many of our members are mothers and those who have daughters who are also involved with Netball have commented how they really enjoy having the connection of the sport as a shared
interest.

Our trips to watch netball at a higher level always include two generations!
